I really enjoyed looking at the broken piece of tree and the way it became indistinct when I took it away and began to draw it within my sketchbook. Whilst walking throughout my house I noticed the amazing detail that the stripes of the watermelon were covered with. This may seem like I'm just being lame, like I had nothing else to draw so decided to pick something that was just there. This was not the case, I really like the way you can take a tiny part of the watermelon, draw the texture and patterns you can see, and it could be anything. However it supports observational drawing because when you add the picture of the object you can see the sections from it that I had decided to observe. I chose patches of the watermelon skin that really fascinated me, I then began to draw them using charcoal, a medium that I find pleasing to work with. To conclude I am happy with both drawings, I feel that the drawing on the right would have looked better if I had done it lengthways along the page, because I would have been able to show even more detail. I am really happy with the large piece that I had created, I feel it looks similar to the pattern on the watermelon skin. Overall I am happy with the outcome of this page.
