Choosing a topic

After looking at all of the different options for my exam preparation I was left with two. Distinct and magnification. In the topic of distinct, I would be exploring and drawing objects from an observational perspective then disfiguring them or blocking parts of them out to make the object look completely different to it's original form. After completing my coursework, I knew I wanted to use photography within my work again. However this is where I came to my stand still with distinct. The only way I believe I could have covered the topic of distinct using photography was to take portrait pictures of people of literally remove parts of their face to make them unrecognisable. Truthfully, I did not feel that I could expand the topic of distinct properly therefore I decided to ponder the topic of magnification. I knew straight away that I could involve photography within this topic. I adored using my macro camera lense and this topic would give me complete freedom to explore with it. In addition to that, I wanted to start to draw more within my sketchbook, my smart target throughout all of my course has been to start doing more observational drawings. I believe that the topic of magnification could really support me with this idea. I now know that I want to look at the structure of materials and objects, for example, looking at how a piece of rope is bound together by hundreds of tiny different structures. To conclude, I have decided study the topic of the magnification. Whilst distinct would allow me to really change the way an object is viewed, I feel that is wouldn't support me enough on what I would have liked to do. Therefore I feel that the topic of magnification is the one for me.
